The District 9705 Rotary Youth Exchange Program is registered with the New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory Education Departments to provide secondary high school Student Exchange Programs.
Each year thousands of young people worldwide are given an opportunity to experience the culture and accomplishments of people in other countries.
How you’ll grow
During your exchange, you will grow considerably in self-confidence, tolerance and self-reliance.
You’ll also learn to accept greater responsibility in your everyday life.
You will have to adapt to unfamiliar and different surroundings and a way of life that is different from home.
For some this will be the first extended period of separation from your family. This can be a learning experience and you will develop many life skills.
To live away from home for 12 months is a demanding yet rewarding experience. It is not always smooth sailing and requires a great strength of character, tolerance, and an acceptance of personal responsibility.
An opportunity like no other
The program provides a unique opportunity for young Australians to experience first-hand a different country’s culture, a new way of life, and another language. Often, the friendships students make will be life-long and important in achieving the aims of the exchange – the building of goodwill and understanding between countries.
